RISD Calendar 2021-2022

This project is to design a calendar by focusing on the similarity of the color palette present in the work of the 12 renowned artists/designers listed below: 

Designers: Karl Gersner, Max Bill, Ivan Chermayeff. Philippe Appeloig, Paul Rand, Neville Brody

Artists: Ellsworth Kelly, Stuart Davis, Sol Lewitt, Andy Warhol, Robert Delaunay, Paul Klee

I selected works from my chosen pairings of artists/ designers, depicting similar color palettes used in a different context. I used certain visual elements from their work and manipulated the palettes to create different hierarchical and spatial effects. The theme is based on the landmarks and icons surrounding the RISD campus (my college). I used a greeting card format to showcase the designs of the subject and the calendar. The architectures can stand on their own, which can be displayed as an art piece as well. I have the Chinese and American holidays labeled in the months, such that the Chinese holidays are marked in rounded rectangle shape as the American holidays marked in ellipse shape.
